August 11 OOTD

Was feeling really artsy today with my Starbucks. The big wig was coming into the office so my boss told me to dress as chic as I could. I paired a large striped top with some leggings with leather detailing then completed it with a pair of patent leather pointed toe flats. Layer simple necklaces and add on some chunky bracelets and you're good to go!

BEST DATE IDEAS EVER

So my sister and I were sitting around watching The Big Bang Theory and we saw Penny and Lenard go on a date at the gun range and I couldn't help, but think "That's a brilliant date idea." Naturally I decided I ought to make a post of really clever dating ideas.

  • Go to a gun range and shoot guns. That's always fun.
  • The Zoo is always good especially since animals are cute and all.
  • Bridge Jumping/ Cliff Diving. Just be careful because a side trip to the ER isn't as romantic, but it is memorable.
  • Para-sailing. Like the post above, don't hurt yourself.
  • Art museum for all art enthusiasts . Plus its a good quiet place to talk.
  • Aquarium because who doesn't love staring at fish.
  • Have an old movie marathon.
  • If you are outdoorsy, go fishing together. Or hunting or camping if you're on that Bass Pro Shop level.
  • If your man is confident enough, go get mani pedis. Not super romantic, but it will be funny.
  • Paintball!!
  • Going to a driving range and play golf.
  • Be Katniss and learn to shoot a bow and arrow.
  • Rock Climbing. You get a great view of each others butts.
  • Go horseback riding!
If you have any amazing date ideas comment!

Social Media Frenzy

So being the young female adult that I am, I have every social media possible. I have Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. I have decided to make an Instagram for only fashion reasons, such as OOTD and artsy pics. Basically anything that I don't want on my personal Instagrams.

If anyone that actually reads this blog wants to follow, my username is RachCate_28

I will follow back because I want to get to know everyone who reads these posts.

I also have started a YouTube channel to further expand my reach into the internet and social media. I will try and post videos as much as possible, but things have been insane because I am graduating for high school in a week!! So over the summer I will defiantly be posting more on all social media, including this blog, YouTube, and Instagram.

So here is where you can find me on all social media

10 Rules to High School

This is actually a list of rules that I made for my younger sister and fellow underclassmen friends about how to survive high school. So read and take it as you want and maybe comment some of your own advice.

1. It's just high school. If you make good grades and do well you can escape in less than 4 years.

2. Being the most popular in high school isn't a real accomplishment.

3. Don't date in high school. It will either end poorly, end at graduation, or if you are really lucky, like in the top 2% of lucky people, it will end in marriage. The risk isn't always worth it.

4. Constantly try new things and only do things you love. Putting it on your college resume isn't worth the headache and insanity.

5. Surround yourself with people who make you feel good, and keep them there. Good and real friends are hard to come by.

6. Live fearlessly. This is the one time where you can experiment with who you are and its still socially acceptable to almost get arrested.

7. Be a nerd. Being smart is actually cool and don't let anyone tell you otherwise because they suck.

8. Whatever you do, do not do anything permanent to yourself. That piercing/ tattoo is a mistake.

9. Scars are permanent too. Don't give yourself a permanent reminder of pain.

10. Be independent. Relying on parents, teachers, and friends is nice, but they can't run your life.

The Summer Essential List

Finally! I know this post is a little late, but the long winter has thawed! We are finally in summer! here are some of my favorite summer items that I couldn't wait to break out of my closet.

1. J.Crew Chinos: Colored shorts are actually my favorite part of summer. They are perfect and are an easy basic for everyday casual wear. I specifically recommend J.Crew because they always have an assortment of colors and have some really cool designs. I get mine from J.Crew Factory because they usually have sales and discounts which are awesome. Target also has similar ones in cool colors too.

2. The Nautical Striped Tee: Spotted, the navy and white striped tee, dress, tank, anything really. Those horizontal navy and white stripes have become a classic in almost any season, but this summer its been every where.

3. The Maxi: By far my most favorite piece of clothing in my closet at the moment. Its the skirt you wear when you have one of those days where you just don't want to wear pants. Hopefully. I'm not the only one that feels that way. Along with the days when you really just don't want to go through shaving your legs.

4. Palazzo Pants: The evolved yoga pants have arrived. They come in all silhouettes and patterns and colors. Just like the follow maxi, they are a new form of dressed up lounge wear that are acceptable to wear in public.

5. The Shift Dress: Starting from the famous Lily Pulitzer shift dresses, the shift dress style has made itself known again this summer. The main problem with this trend is not everyone can pull it off. Coming from a girl with a very small waist and a rather larger chest, the shift dress tends to make more of a tent effect on me than actually flatter my figure.

15 Rules to Being Female

Since I have recently graduated from high school (finally) I decided to pass along some words of wisdom that I have learned about... well... being a female in the great wide world that we live in.

1. Always as about others

2. Remember, you're in no place to judge others.

3. Always have your nails painted. You never know when you will need to flick someone off.

4. You have one body. Its the only thing that's truly yours. Take care of it.

5. No one is above you, no one is below you.

6. Being on your period is an excuse to eat whatever you want.

7. Breakups aren't an excuse to drink. They're an excuse to workout.

8. Hair always grows, mix it up from time to time.

9.Self tanners can fool anyone. Lying actually can save your skin.

10. If you're going to wage war, be strategic.

11. Cussing isn't unladylike if they deserve it.

12. You don't need an excuse to get dressed up.

13. Don't follow people, lead them.

14. There is nothing wrong with "Me" time.

15. Being crazy is sometimes a good things.

Hey there!

Hey there! I'm Rachel and I created this blog for multiple reasons. I hope to try and get them all down here before I forget or make this post too long winded.

One reason I want to do this is because I absolutely love fashion. I think its a great way to express yourself and present yourself to the world, so its important that its done right.
SO GUESS WHAT! There isn't really a wrong style, just inappropriate clothes for certain situations. For example: DO NOT wear a crop top with your stomach out to a job interview. I feel like people should know this, but apparently they don't. Its time to start paying attention to that.

I also work in retail and its really unfortunate to see women try and dress themselves and they don't succeed in making themselves look as amazing as they could. Leggings and a crop top never look good on anyone. You muffin top and camel toe are exposed and that has NEVER, and never will be, an attractive thing.

I also have a little sister and she is such an inspiration. She's only a freshman in high school, and unlike how I was, she knows who she is and is proud of it. We all went through a phase, or multiple, in trying to find ourselves. I hope to help. I went through just about every phase including, but not limited to, goth, punk, skater, preppy, boho, and now I just do whatever I like and its come to a preppy/edgy/boho combination. I want to help young girls break away from conforming to what their friends want to do, to what they want to do. I struggled with that, but my sister sure doesn't.
